  1. Teaser Tuesdays

    Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
    • Grab your current read
    • Open to a random page
    • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
    • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
    • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
    'He's some kind of stalker!'
Jonathan's voice grew soft. 'Who just happens to be here at midnight? Watching your house?'

From page 11 of Touching Darkness by Scott Westerfeld. This book is the second title in the Midnighters trilogy and sequel to The Secret Hour.

    1. Oh, this is the next book in the series. It sounds really good too. I think I am going to have to get these books sooner than I had thought.

If you would like to stop by I did the Where are you? this week.

Is this a really "dark" series. I need something new to read but nothing too scary!

I have reviewed the second book now and feel a it more knowledgeable about it to come back and answer this.

Scary can be so subjective. I know that some of the things that I am fine with in, say, movies can completely freak some of my friends out. I tend to be pretty okay with scary and even enjoy it. The second book is darker than the first and I guess concepts like the Halfling can be considered pretty creepy. The characters all have various issues stemming from growing up as Midnighters but I really like how Westerfeld reflects it in their personalities. If you want to give Scott Westerfeld a try but want something less dark than you might want to try the Uglies series first.
