  1. What's on the Bookshelf

    Monday, September 28, 2009

Another Monday and another shopping spree. I really have to stop buying so many books. I really can't keep up with myself. If I'm well behaved, these Monday updates should be restricted to library swag for awhile... That's a pretty big if. Haha.

The Farseekers, Ashling, and The Keeping Place by Isobelle Carmody
All part of Obernewtyn Chronicles. I still don't have the fifth book yet, however.
The Study Series by Maria V. Snyder, I think, has put me in just the right mood to get stuck back into the Obernewtyn books. Oh, and I love this cover set too. A nice splash of colour on my shelf in such pretty tones, too.

Dead as a Doornail and Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris
More Sookie Stackhouse. No surprise there.

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
I haven't read this before but like many I have seen the movie.
The only Anne Rice book I have ever read was Pandora. That was years ago though but I think that I enjoyed it.

I think Interview with the Vampire is slow but good. My favourite of the series is Memnoch the Devil...still one of my favourite books!

    3. Great books--I do recommend The Mayfair Witches chronicles by Anne Rice. I liked them far better than the vampire book. Fewer periods of utter boredom to get to the good stuff, for starters, and she can write a family of effed up witches in a mansion sinking in a New Orleans swamp REALLY well! I'll be doing a reread soon.

    4. Ooh I love all of the covers. I am a book cover junkie.

I loved Interview with a Vampire; it was a world that sucked me in and wouldn't let go.

    6. I have to say I LOVE the covers for Obernewtyn Chronicles. Those covers would sell me walking through the store. I would definitely have to pick them up and read the backs. You are going to have to do a review on these, I really want to know more about them.

      Look like great books!

I'll definitely review them, Melissa. I have already reviewed the first book in the series which I probably should have mentioned above:

    8. Thanks for the link to your review of the first book. The sound REALLY good!! I think I am going to add them to my increasingly long (and growing) list of books. I like the idea of these books. Do you know if they stay with the same characters & finding others or do they center around different people completely with each book? Either way I think I will have to put them on the list. Thanks!

Interview is great but don't be surprised to see some of the plot differs from the movie, even though Anne Rice wrote the screenplay for it. Armand is an auburn-haired teenager from Russia, not Antonio Banderas, and there are some other differences.

The Vampire Lestat is my favourite, as well as Vittorio the Vampire, which actually has no link to any other vampires that come before it.

The Mayfair Witch books rock - and yes they are fkd up!
